Every year, BCCS helps make Thanksgiving week a little happier for its customers by sponsoring two events, the Thanksgiving turkey give away and the annual Customer Lunch.
For BCCS staff, the reward for our hard work is seeing the successful outcomes for our customers. Recovery. Self-confidence. Social connectedness. Setting goals, reaching them, and celebrating.

Gia Dixon Success Story

Gia Dixon has seen both good times and bad. After years of cocaine addiction and personal hardship, she is battling her way back from addiction and bringing a spirit of positivity and zest for life to Brandywine. In addition to her previous struggles with addiction, Gia is faced with significant health issues. But instead of being defeated, backing down from her personal fight and giving up, she continues to work hard at her job as a flagger, has gone back to school, volunteers in the Prevention Department’s Outreach Program, and is currently working to get her children living back under one roof. Tanyel Johnson, one of Gia’s counselors at BCCS, says, “Gia has a zeal for recovery with a positive and upbeat attitude. She brings a great energy to group that is inspirational.”
Brandywine Counseling & Community Services honors Gia for her strength, her hard work to fight addiction, and her gusto to change her life. Gia is evidence that recovery is possible and that lives can be changed through determination and commitment. We salute Gia for her nine months of sobriety, her hard work, and her success!
