Criminal
Justice Services
BCI has provided
services to the criminal justice population since 1987. Currently, three
specific programs provide these services: the Drug Diversion Program, the
SENTAC program for work release clients at Plummer Center, and the Alpha

Meet the Drug Diversion Staff
|
First time offenders may choose to participate in this program in order to resolve
a drug charge that may otherwise result in a conviction, loss of driver’s
license, and a sentence to probation.
Participation and compliance is monitored by Superior Court
or Court of Common Pleas.
Participants have a brief or episodic history of
drug use, no prior treatment for substance abuse, and no chronic patterns of
addiction.
The client enters into
a random urine monitoring system coded
by color, and must call each day for a testing date. 12
education groups are scheduled, designed for the level of service
determined, on topics including legal risks of substance abuse, potential
for continued use, effect on personal goals, and lifestyle choices.
A client graduates from the program after
meeting all required criteria, including attendance and participation, completion of goals, consecutive
negative urinalysis reports, and avoidance of all criminal activity.

SENTAC/Plummer Center Program
BCI provides alcohol and other drug evaluations
on site at the Plummer Center and then follows the clients after release at
our Lancaster Avenue site.
These clients are either in the Intensive
Community Supervision Program, under House Arrest, or Plummer Center
inmates.
The program provides urine drug screening
and alcohol and drug education and/or treatment. A series of 12 educational
groups are offered as well as individual sessions if needed.
